The Obsidian Eye is just the beginning of an exciting new YA mystery series by author Cathy Warshaw.
Without a whole lot of backstory or set up, readers are introduced to mystery-seeker detective sisters Chloe and Lily as they are quickly thrown into a twisty adventure after discovering a mysterious artifact (the titular "Obsidian Eye"). The sisters, though they bring two very different personalities to the mix, have an incredibly strong bond that serves them well as they race to collect clues and solve complex puzzles.
Stakes feel high and the action does not ease up through out this fast but satisfying read. Though on the short side, The Obsidian Eye doesn't skimp on plot or character development; the danger feels real, the pace brisk, and even the multiple colorful side characters feel fully formed and necessary to move the story along.
Though there is a satisfying conclusion to this particular adventure, author Warshaw leaves a little bit of a thread to hold on to, enticing readers to follow her along for more adventures with Chloe and Lily in the next installment of the series.
