š WHAT DO YOU BUY A KID WHO LOVES MYSTERIES?

Besides a trench coat, a fake mustache, and permission to interrogate the family at Thanksgiving? šš
If you have a curious kid or teen in your lifeāthe kind who asks 47 questions before breakfast, notices things you were hoping they wouldnātĀ notice, and considers ājust one more chapterā a legally binding contractāI have a few ideas.
Give them something that feeds that curiosity. Here's what you buy a kid who loves mysteries.
š A great mystery book š A magnifying glassābecause apparently everything looks more suspicious through one š A detective notebook for clues, theories, and possibly evidence against their siblings š¦ A small flashlight for investigating things after bedtime. Not that Iām encouraging that. Ahem. š§© Ciphers, puzzles, and secret codes š” A reading light for the famous āI WASNāT READING! I WAS SLEEPING!ā defense š A backpack or bag to hold all that highly classified detective equipmentšļø Mystery accessories and little surprises
Or go completely overboardāwhich, frankly, is my preferred methodāand get them our Holiday Gift Box. Includes our first 3 books in English or Spanish.
You can even hide their gift and make them solve clues to find it.
Yes, technically you are making them WORK for their present.
I call that character building.Ā š
And gifts donāt have to be things.
Take them to an escape room. Plan a scavenger hunt. Visit a historic place. Create a family mystery night.
Because the best gift for a curious kid isnāt necessarily the biggest or most expensive one.
Itās something that makes them think, question, explore, imagine, and sayā¦
šµļø āWAIT. I THINK I FIGURED IT OUT!ā
Thatās what I love about mysteries.
They teach kids to pay attention to the things everyone else walks right past.
And you never knowā¦
The next great detective may already be living in your house.
Although if your cookies keep disappearing, Iād start the investigation there.Ā šŖšš
